Allergy Tips

Covid-19 and Allergy

All Allergic patients should be vaccinated for Covid.

Tips:

1. Make a follow-up visit with your allergist few weeks before vaccination if you have questions regarding the vaccine

2. Do not stop your chronic allergy therapy if you have Covid

3.Make sure to start or increase your medications if you have worsening allergy symptoms

5. You may stop sublingual immunotherapy prescribed by your allergist just for the time you have fever

6. Make sure you start your asthma treatment early if you have asthma

7. Biologics for severe asthma or atopic dermatitis are not contra-indicated during Covid and do not neither negatively affect the immune system nor increase the risk of severe Covid

7. If you are concerned about allergy to Covid vaccine  be aware about possible testing or counseling regarding the choice of vaccine

8. GET VACCINATED !!

Difference between Covid symptoms and Allergy symptoms:

  • Allergy symptoms are not associated with fever unless there is sinus infection or bronchitis associated
  • Covid may trigger allergy symptoms
  • Nasal congestion and loss of olfaction may be present in both diseases.
  • CT scan chest in Asthma is usually normal
  • Allergic respiratory diseases are chronic with remission and recurrence
